The Steve Jobs Book Is Out!

I saw the piece about Steve Jobs and the author last night on 60 Mins! The book look like it is going to be AWESOME and I cant wait tho read it!

About The Book : Based on more than forty interviews with Jobs conducted over two years—as well as interviews with more than a hundred family members, friends, adversaries, competitors, and colleagues—Walter Isaacson has written a riveting story of the roller-coaster life and searingly intense personality of a creative entrepreneur whose passion for perfection and ferocious drive revolutionized six industries: personal computers, animated movies, music, phones, tablet computing, and digital publishing.

At a time when America is seeking ways to sustain its innovative edge, and when societies around the world are trying to build digital-age economies, Jobs stands as the ultimate icon of inventiveness and applied imagination. He knew that the best way to create value in the twenty-first century was to connect creativity with technology. He built a company where leaps of the imagination were combined with remarkable feats of engineering.

Although Jobs cooperated with this book, he asked for no control over what was written nor even the right to read it before it was published. He put nothing off-limits. He encouraged the people he knew to speak honestly. And Jobs speaks candidly, sometimes brutally so, about the people he worked with and competed against. His friends, foes, and colleagues provide an unvarnished view of the passions, perfectionism, obsessions, artistry, devilry, and compulsion for control that shaped his approach to business and the innovative products that resulted.

Driven by demons, Jobs could drive those around him to fury and despair. But his personality and products were interrelated, just as Apple’s hardware and software tended to be, as if part of an integrated system. His tale is instructive and cautionary, filled with lessons about innovation, character, leadership, and values.

About the Author
Walter Isaacson, the CEO of the Aspen Institute, has been chairman of CNN and the managing editor of Time magazine. He is the author of Benjamin Franklin: An American Life and of Kissinger: A Biography, and the coauthor of The Wise Men: Six Friends and the World They Made. He lives in Washington, D.C., with his wife and daughter.

Apple Wants To ‘Talk iPhone’

Apple wants to ‘talk iPhone’ on October 4th — Engadget.

Well, it’s about freaking time! Apple has finally begun sending out invites for its upcoming press conference, and the company’s being none too subtle with the hints, offering up some familiar app icons in the artwork and the tagline “Let’s talk iPhone.” As to whether it’ll be an iPhone 5, 4S or some other new formation, we’ll all have to wait until the event to find out — and you’d better believe we’ll be there at Apple’s Cupertino headquarters to find out.

The iPhone 4S

BGR reports on a new research note from Wedge Partners analyst Brian Blair, who claims that Apple will be introducing only one new iPhone model, the so-called “iPhone 4S”, at its October 4th media event. The claim runs contrary to some other recent rumors that Apple will be introducing both an iPhone 4S and a redesigned iPhone 5, but agrees with other analysts who have seen no sign of a redesigned iPhone 5 coming through Apple’s supply chain.

“We expect the focus of the new iPhone will be iOS 5, a speedier A5 processor and a higher resolution 8 MP camera with a small possibility of a larger 4 inch screen,” Blair wrote. “We believe the casing will be largely similar to the iPhone with some particular modifications to the antennae [sic]. We don’t expect a second, dramatically different iPhone to accompany this as we don’t think Apple needs to have 3 models in the market to address the high end, mid-tier and low end since the iPhone 4 (with memory lowered to 8 GB) will drop to $99 and effectively attack those markets.”

The complete lack of parts evidence for a redesigned iPhone 5 has led to serious questions about the potential for such a device being launched this fall, and with the iPhone 4S having been seen sporting an A5 processor it seems possible Apple may be planning only the iPhone 4S as its next-generation iPhone model.

Where Can I Get A Cheap iPad?

Question From Kristen :
Hey Robert, where can I get a cheap IPad and what do you recommend? Thanks

Answer : Apple Discounts NOTHING! The only way to get a cheaper iPad is to get a refurbished one. Here is the link!  The first gen iPad is fine and is $400 bucks in the refurb store!  The new iPAd 2 is def a lil lighter, faster and the camera in the front is nice!  Rumor has it Q1 of 2012 will bring the iPad 3, so prices may drop after the holiday season.

VMware Fusion 4

VMware Fusion 4 levels up for Lion virtualization

by Michael RoseSep 14th 2011 at 8:00AM

Winter turns to spring, night to dawn… and the two 800 lb. gorillas of the Mac virtualization market trade updates once again. A fortnight ago it was Parallels 7 hitting with a new release, and today we note the debut of VMware Fusion 4.

The new version of the virtual PC tool from the enterprise experts in virtualization looks to offer better performance, easier virtual disk resizing, a reboot-free drag and drop install, more graceful migration for PC to Mac switchers, and a no-compromises story on Lion compatibility both for the host and the virtual machine.

MacBook Air review – Engadget

My laptop of choice!  the fully loaded Macbook Air 13″  I personally love it and highly recommend the 13″ inch for those who don’t travel much and the 11″ inch for those who do a lot of traveling!  Check out the Engadget review!MacBook Air review (mid 2011)

Macbook Air

Review

There comes a time when that giant, corporate-issued laptop stops fitting into your lifestyle. When dragging around a Kensington roller case just won’t do. When you start to hear the siren lilt of something thinner, lighter, and maybe a bit more alluring. For years the MacBook Air has been that svelte temptress hollering your name, but it’s always been a bit too slow — all show and no go. It didn’t have the power and the longevity to make it a serious contender for your serious affections.

No more. With its latest refresh, Apple has taken what was once a manilla-clad curiosity and turned it into a legitimate machine, not just a sultry looker. Good thing, too, because the death of the plastic-clad MacBook means the Air is now Apple’s entry-level portable. Weary traveler looking for a laptop that will lighten your load and, it must be said, your wallet too? This might just be it.

Apple Rumor: $800 Tablet Due in October

With a 9.7-inch display, this big-screen iPod touch could be just the thing for Christmas 2009.

The rumors may be getting closer to the truth, or vice versa, as a report surfaced from Taiwan today that Apple plans to releases its much discussed tablet computer this October. Guesstimated pricing: $800.
The Taiwanese site InfoTimes reports (in Chinese) that the device will have a 9.7-inch touchscreen, making it a tad smaller than most netbooks but adding touchcreen features and iPod mystique.

October would be a reasonable time for such an announcement, since Apple would be unlikely to announce much before availability in its stores, and such an announcement would be close enough to Christmas for the tablet to become 2009’s hot gift item–at least for Apple fans.

InfoTimes sources its report to various supposed parts and manufacturing partners, which adds some weight to the rumor. As is usual, Apple won’t say anything about new products and its partners also remain officially mum, at least if they want to remain an Apple partner.

The InfoTimes report is in broad agreement with earlier reports of an Apple tablet, then supposedly due in 2010. If the device is due in the next 9 months, October is a good choice for a release date.

Target market? The safe guess is that the tablet would be an oversized iPod touch, aimed primarily at entertainment users. However, for those used to sending email and doing other “work” on their iPhones, the tablet might be a pleasant step up, at least in terms of the size of its virtual keyboard.

While this is still the stuff of rumor, it seems to be circling in on something. The price makes sense, as does what little is heard of the specifications. Apple will want to have a hot new product for the holidays and a big-screen iPod makes a lot of sense as portable video gains in popularity.

This isn’t the MacPad tablet computer that I’d like to see–I want a real keyboard–but the current rumor doesn’t rule it out, either. And it may be that an Apple tablet computer and an iPod on steroids are better as separate devices.

The New iPods Are Coming!

Well, it’s that time of year again, when the holiday season is almost upon us and everyone is gearing up for the last quarter of the year for holiday shopping and the rumors were starting to fly about a the new iPods being released! Sites were posting wide, stubby looking weird nanos. Apple did go ahead and send out cease and desist letters on posting the images, so it looks like that may be one of the new ones. I think another option that will come out is some sort of wide screen display like the phones. Should be interesting!

“The iPhone” 2007

Wow, what more can you say about it! It is “The iPhone” and it is HERE! It came out on Nicky’s Birthday, and he almost got one too!! hehe I played with it for the first time that first weekend and it truly is an amazing phone! I never saw such hype and so many people analyzing one product before in my life! I am going to pick one up soon, but I wanted to get a real feel for it and see what people are talking about it! Cell phones for me for some reason never intrigued me so much. I know so many people who get new phones like 2 or 3 times a year. I stuck with my ol Nokia with the flip out keyboard, which is still to me a great phone and it will be missed! Yeas, there is a TON of things that disappoint me about the iPhone and do I wish it was upgraded, YES! I do sit back and see that it blows my Nokia away and it DOES do the things I need it to do! So with all the trade offs, it is a killer phone and communication device and I am looking forward to getting one very, VERY soon!

Steve Jobs keynote live from Macworld 2006

Steve Jobs keynote live from Macworld 2006 – Engadget: “Steve Jobs keynote live from Macworld 2006”

Always fun when Steve Jobs does his keynote speechs. Today he announced mainly that the Intel chips are here in Macs and they are shipping today! Also a new FM transmitter / remote for the Ipod with dock conectors and some new SNL content on Itunes.

The New iPod with video & PJ’s King Kong

I got my lil mitts on the latest 5th generation ipod with video! I must admit, it is really really nice! Its a lot smaller than I thought it was going to be and everything I expected. The screen is real nice in color and very smooth interface! I am totally not used to for one thing color and photos let alone streaming video on an ipod! They had 2 videos on the ipods to demo. A preview of the new movie Curious George and the trailer for King Kong! The video played real smooth and it sounded amazing on those Bose headphones they always push 🙂 It is a MUST HAVE gift for me this Christmas and I am looking forward to getting the 60 gig 🙂 I am actually GLAD I did not buy the ipod nano and held out for this bad boy!

Speaking of King Kong, you MUST go to the Apple site and check out the new 2 plus minute, making of video they have on there! The movie looks AMAZING and I am really looking forward to it!
